Welcome to Turning Into Home! A little about me… My name is Jessica, and I created this space to share the things I love and document my journey of tailoring my home to fit my personal style. After years of renting, I purchased my first home in 2018. Since then, I have adopted a slow decorating approach to adding my own personality and character to a space that initially felt like a cookie-cutter version every house in my neighborhood. I have learned so much about DIY, styling interiors, and knowing when to hire a professional.
My lifelong passion is cooking and baking. Food brings me so much joy and has always been a creative outlet for me. I often customize recipes I find online and occasionally create my own recipes. It’s important to me to incorporate a lot of variety in my food, while focusing on real, whole, healthy ingredients. I believe in eating organic produce, pastured meats, grass-fed dairy, and gluten-free, while avoiding seed oils and highly processed foods. My hope is that you will come for the home content and stay for the food!
In addition to home styling and food, I love fresh flowers. Light gardening and floral arranging have become more recent hobbies of mine, sparking my interest in organic gardening practices and using fresh florals in my home. Currently, growing all of my plants in containers, including a blueberry bush and a limelight hydrangea. My favorite flowers are light pink peonies and blue hydrangeas, but I have just added a beautiful ivory rose, dahlias, and a large variety of begonia, which are adding a lot of color to my garden.
If I had to label my preferred style, I would say a Nancy Meyers rom-com meets a cute, cozy Hallmark movie, meets Martha Stewart, with French and British inspiration, classic touches, and clean lines with a soft, feminine touch.
